The distinction matters. The Xbox product page explicitly labels Xbox cross-platform multiplayer and Xbox cross-platform co-op, which supports play across Microsoft's listed Xbox/PC ecosystem. That wording is not proof that PS5, Steam, and Epic all enter the same matchmaking pool.
The original Aliens: Fireteam Elite eventually supported broad crossplay, but sequel support must be documented for the sequel. Reusing the first game's FAQ would turn a reasonable expectation into an unsupported claim.
