GAME INTRODUCTION
What to know before you play

Pick the answer you need
- Xbox and PS5 free download, release date, and supported hardware.
- Crossplay, cross-progression, and account linking.
- What Game Pass does and does not include.
- First-person view, 4K/60, 120 FPS, and controller features.
- Whether the console beta is still open and what carried over.
What kind of game it is
Once Human is a scenario-based multiplayer survival game. A character explores a Stardust-infected open world, collects materials, builds and defends a territory, crafts equipment, captures Deviants, and joins PvE or PvP activities. NetEase lists six scenarios plus a PvP spin-off for the console launch.
The word “scenario” matters. Once Human is not one fixed campaign that ends after a linear quest list. Scenarios define environments, rules, seasons, and progression conditions. That structure also means a guide must name the current scenario and version before claiming that a resource route, build, or reset rule applies everywhere.

What changed with the console launch
The console release adds a switchable first-person perspective. NetEase also advertises a Quality mode at 4K/60 FPS and a Performance mode at 120 FPS, plus controller feedback tailored to monsters, boss encounters, and loot drops. Those are published targets and features, not a measured performance review of every console model.
The old console open beta is over. Its crossplay limits and wipe rules describe the test, not the released game. The launch announcement supersedes the beta on cross-platform play: PC, mobile, PlayStation, and Xbox are now included in the full crossplay and cross-progression statement.
