This is a selective September 2026 release calendar built around 16 games with both a verified launch and useful questions that can be answered before purchase. It is not a list of every storefront upload. Each entry has an official date, a permanent game page, and focused coverage for platforms, editions, prices, multiplayer, hardware, or another decision players need to make now.

Dates answer only the first question. The rest of this page separates early access from full release, current-generation features from older-console versions, digital launches from boxed copies, and a playable demo or beta from the retail game.
September 3–4: four very different launches
Orbitals opens the month as a Switch 2-exclusive cooperative game designed for exactly two people. It supports local split screen and online play through Nintendo's documented GameShare and Global Friend's Pass paths. The 9.8 GB release also supports cloud saves and eligible family-group lending. Its useful questions are therefore access questions—who needs a copy, which online service is required, and what Deluxe adds—not invented solutions for puzzles the public cannot yet reproduce.
The Blood of Dawnwalker opens the month on September 3. Rebel Wolves' action RPG launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support documented for the Microsoft version. Its most useful pre-purchase questions are not speculative quest routes. They are release timing, edition contents, Collector's Edition, PC requirements, multiplayer status, and how the day-and-night time system shapes the campaign. The permanent dossier keeps those answers separate so a price search does not land in a vague gameplay article.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword follows September 4. Capcom's current date replaces older September 25 information still visible in some coverage. A free PS5 demo gives players a real taste of combat, but demo progress does not transfer. Completing it grants the Kubi Akari accessory in the full game when the same account and save are available. The dossier also compares three editions and official PC performance targets without converting a demo encounter into a full-game boss guide.
NBA 2K27 launches the same day across PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Switch 2. Its search surface is much wider: release and advanced access, prices and editions, crossplay, PC requirements, MyPLAYER Builder, Badge Tokens, MyCAREER Eras, co-op, MyNBA Legacy, and other modes. The important boundary is timing. Pre-release mode descriptions can explain systems, but they cannot prove the best build, fastest VC route, jumper, or competitive meta.
September 8: horror and simulation share a date
Halloween: The Game has three dates that should not be collapsed into one. Digital Deluxe early access begins September 4 at 9 AM Pacific. The digital Standard game launches September 8 on PS5, Xbox Series, Steam, and Epic. Physical console editions arrive October 6. Standard and Deluxe digital prices differ from the limited $149.99 Collector's Edition, and the game includes both a standalone Michael Myers story and one-versus-four online multiplayer. The checked publisher pages do not establish crossplay, so the dossier leaves that answer open instead of inferring it from the platform list.
Bus Simulator 27 also arrives September 8 on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Its $29.99 Standard Edition covers more than 45 buses from 13 manufacturers, the two-city Felicia Bay map with more than 20 districts, and Story, Career, and Sandbox modes. Official announcements confirm four-player full crossplay. They also establish that the public demo is a limited slice rather than the complete fleet or economy. No iOS or Android version is announced, despite active mobile searches around the title.
September 10–15: one live-service test and one major PS5 release
WARDOGS enters Windows Early Access September 10 after a closed beta that reached the top of Steam's United States seller chart. That signal makes it worth tracking, but it also creates a version trap. Beta maps, progression, balance, and performance are not automatically the Early Access contract. Current pages focus on date, PC and console status, editions, Easy Anti-Cheat, hardware, access rules, and carry-over evidence. Class rankings and weapon recommendations need the public September build.
Marvel's Wolverine launches September 15 on PS5. It is the largest single-platform release in this edition and has enough PlayStation documentation for a substantial pre-release package: date, editions, preorder items, characters, story premise, combat structure, open-world boundaries, and accessibility. PC and PS4 versions are not announced. The dossier therefore answers those platform searches directly and withholds boss, ending, trophy, and performance claims until release.
September 17–25: strategy, a Switch 2 second launch, horror, and two FC 27 dates
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave arrives September 17 exclusively on Switch 2. Nintendo prices Standard at $69.99 and the physical Dagdan Collection at $119.99. Its four named heroes—Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda—lead connected story threads around the Heroic Games and the Dagdan Empire. Official material also explains Combat Arts, HP-costing Blaze Arts, and the Fortuna's Blessing rewind. It does not yet establish romance routes, recruit rankings, or complete map solutions.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight comes to Switch 2 on September 18 after releasing in May on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Standard is $69.99 and Deluxe is $89.99. All Switch 2 preorders include The Dark Knight Returns Batsuit; the physical Deluxe preorder also has a Retro Video Game Batman minifigure while supplies last. The date also brings the Mayhem Collection with Joker, Harley Quinn, a new mode, and a story mission. Co-op is two-player local only, so Nintendo Switch Online is not required for an online mode that the game does not have.
Graveyard Keeper 2 launches September 22 on Windows PC, PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The current preorder reward is a personal sauna and a platform-dependent player outfit. Every checked platform describes one-player software, so the dossier answers multiplayer and crossplay searches directly rather than implying that zombie workers or the undead army are human co-op features. Separate pages cover the Town, automation, fortification, army, 3D-world changes, and modest PC requirements; recipes, optimal layouts, and review judgments wait for the retail build.
SILENT HILL: Townfall follows September 24 on PS5, Steam, and Epic. The US PlayStation Store lists Standard at $49.99 and Deluxe at $59.99, with up to 48 hours of early access for an eligible Deluxe preorder. A physical PS5 copy is confirmed, while the documented SteelBook offer belongs to selected EMEA retailers and should not be assumed for every US copy. The first-person game combines CRTV investigation, stealth, combat, choices, and multiple endings; route-level answers wait for release.
CONTROL Resonant launches the same day on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic, with GeForce NOW support at launch and Mac later in 2026. PS5 Digital Deluxe includes 48-hour advance access; the checked Xbox and PC listings do not make the same promise. Remedy's unusually detailed pre-release material supports separate pages for editions, 100 GB PC requirements, the Aberrant melee-and-ability loop, New Game Plus carry-over, and the roles of Dylan and Jesse. Google also suggests SteelBook and review searches, so the dossier gives an explicit unconfirmed SteelBook answer and a three-source hands-on preview roundup rather than inventing a final verdict.
EA SPORTS FC 27 launches September 25, but Ultimate Plus and Ultimate buyers start September 18. Standard includes the complete core game. Ultimate adds up to 6,000 FC Points in three monthly drops and a Season 1 Premium Pass. The limited Ultimate Plus edition adds up to 10,000 points over five drops and Premium Passes for Seasons 1–5, but it leaves sale after August 31 and is unavailable on Nintendo platforms and Epic.
FC 27 spans PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PC, Switch, and Switch 2, yet feature parity is not complete. The Grounds is limited to PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Switch 2. Dual Entitlement works only inside the same console family, and only Ultimate Team progress is documented to move between old- and current-generation versions; Career and most other modes remain version-specific. A separate free FC 27 Lite preview arrives September 25 at 16:00 UTC on supported non-Nintendo platforms.
September 29: Minecraft Dungeons II closes the month
Minecraft Dungeons II releases September 29 for $29.99 on Xbox Series, Windows PC and Steam, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. Both Nintendo generations are officially named. The Standard game joins Game Pass on day one and supports Xbox Play Anywhere between Xbox Series and Windows PC.
The $49.99 Deluxe Edition adds four hero skins, the Soul cape, Blub pet, and DLC 1 and 2 when released. A separate preorder set includes two skins, the Twisted cape, and Twisted chicken pet. Official stores list two-to-four-player local and online co-op, while Xbox also identifies cross-platform multiplayer and co-op. Mojang has revealed new missions, enemies, gear, two threatened worlds, and the Sift dimension; exact mission routes and equipment rankings remain launch work.
Choose by the decision you need to make
For a single-player action RPG at the start of the month, compare Dawnwalker's editions and time system with Onimusha's demo and combat structure. For sports, NBA 2K27 launches first and focuses on basketball modes and builds; FC 27 arrives later with two console generations, Career changes, The Grounds, and a free Lite preview. For groups, Bus Simulator 27 offers four-player crossplay, Halloween offers asymmetrical one-versus-four play, and Minecraft Dungeons II supports four-player couch or online action RPG sessions.
Then check hardware and ownership. A PS4 or Xbox One owner can buy FC 27 but cannot use The Grounds. A family with one PS5 can play Minecraft Dungeons II locally with up to four, while online play needs PS Plus. A player following Halloween for a boxed copy waits until October 6 even though digital buyers start in September. Those distinctions are why every game keeps a permanent dossier instead of relying on one date table.
