Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is scheduled to unlock worldwide on August 25, 2026 at 3:00 PM UTC for Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is a third-person co-op shooter from Cold Iron Studios built around one-to-four-player squads, distinct combat classes, weapon and gear customization, and dedicated Horde maps.

What is different in the sequel
The first practical change is squad size. Fireteam Elite used three-person teams; the sequel supports four online players. Cold Iron says the larger squad is paired with deeper team mechanics and classes built around different tactical roles. That makes class composition part of the game, but it does not yet justify a “best class” ranking before the public build and its balance are available.
The Specialist is the clearest new class idea. Instead of locking the player to one fixed kit, it can combine major and minor abilities drawn from the available classes. It is a flexible slot for filling a missing squad role. The store also identifies new and improved regular classes, but this overview does not turn short showcase descriptions into complete builds.
Combat still centers on Colonial Marines surviving Xenomorph pressure. The official description calls out stun batons, pyro ammunition, electric ammunition, broader weapon and gear customization, smarter enemies, and more Xenomorph types. Separate Horde maps use escalating waves and increasingly valuable rewards. These are confirmed systems, not proof of the fastest leveling route or strongest loadout.

The absence of a crossplay statement matters because Google suggestions already show that question. Support for online co-op on several platforms does not by itself prove that those platforms share matchmaking. This site will publish a separate crossplay answer only when Cold Iron, Daybreak, or the released game provides a direct policy.
