GAME INTRODUCTION

What to know before you play

Star Wars Zero Company is available now on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is a single-player, turn-based tactics campaign in which one player commands Hawks and a customizable squad. EA estimates 30–40 hours for the main story, and permadeath is optional even though it starts enabled by default.

What the official material actually establishes

You play as Hawks, a former Republic officer commanding Zero Company during the Clone Wars. EA describes a single-player campaign in which the squad takes missions across the galaxy, returns to a headquarters called the Den, and develops relationships that unlock combat synergies. The roster combines authored Star Wars characters with operatives the player can customize.

The structure includes Operations on the Galaxy Map, deployed Tactical Missions, campaign choices, squad composition, character bonds, and the Den. EA's launch FAQ now confirms that activities can expire, each cycle ends with a Tactical Mission selection, and story missions can include a small third-person exploration phase. Exact routes, ending conditions, and strongest builds still need reproducible launch-build evidence.

Buying and support boundary

Steam lists the Standard Edition at $49.99 in the United States. Deluxe content is cosmetic: a Grand Army pack, Shadow Collective pack, and five painted weapon themes. Preordering either edition adds a Crystalline Astromech cosmetic pack. None of those descriptions establishes stronger units, early access, or a gameplay advantage.

The PC target is demanding for a tactics game: even minimum lists 16 GB RAM and a GTX 1080-class GPU, while recommended lists 32 GB and an RTX 3080-class GPU. EA now says its 1440p/60 recommended target uses the game's recommended default upscaling option, such as TSR, DLSS, or FSR; do not read the table as a native-resolution benchmark.

EA's launch support adds one important detail: the Crystalline Astromech pack is not usable immediately. An eligible owner must complete the Smugglers’ Manifest Operation in Cycle 5. That is a progression gate, not proof that the purchase failed.

What the launch reviews add

Four independent reviews published August 26 broadly agree that the tactical combat, squad building, characters, and cinematic presentation are the strongest parts. Their cautions vary: a slow opening, repeated objectives, console cursor or camera friction, and launch-build bugs appear across different reports. Read the roundup for each reviewer's platform and evidence boundary rather than turning those observations into a universal performance claim.

Complete mission routes, ending conditions, and strongest builds remain outside the verified material. Launch-day “best squad” pages and untested walkthroughs should not be treated as established game facts merely because the game is now available.
