GTA 6 — Release Date, Extended Look, Characters, and Map

Grand Theft Auto VI releases November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a PC launch date. The August 27 Extended Look is now available and was captured from in-game footage on PlayStation 5; that does not establish unannounced PC timing or final performance modes.

Current purchase contract

Rockstar documents Standard and Ultimate editions. The US PlayStation Store lists Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99 before tax. Ultimate can also be added as a separate upgrade after a Standard purchase. Digital purchases or preorders made before November 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+, subject to Rockstar's account and platform rules.

The physical package is unusual: Rockstar Support says it contains a download code, not a disc. Physical copies become available November 12 so buyers can redeem and preload before launch. A code still needs internet access, platform storage, the correct account region where applicable, and the console storefront.

Preload is not early access

Preload begins November 12 at local midnight. It installs encrypted or locked game data; it does not move the playable launch forward. The release remains November 19 unless Rockstar publishes a change.

Story, characters, and setting

Rockstar describes Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos as partners caught in a criminal conspiracy across Leonida after an easy score goes wrong. The official People and Places material also names Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, Real Dimez, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder.

The confirmed setting extends beyond Vice City. Rockstar names the Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Grassrivers and Mount Kalaga National Park, and publishes location-specific screenshots. Rockstar has not published a final map outline, map size, collectible route or complete district list, so those claims are not presented as facts here.

Mission choices, endings, PC requirements, graphics modes and launch performance remain unknown. Those questions need a released build or a direct Rockstar announcement; trailers alone cannot answer them.
