What to know before you play
Mewgenics has two linked decisions: assemble a squad that can finish today's adventure, then preserve traits that improve tomorrow's house. The official Steam description calls this the Cat Loop—choose cats, equip class-specific collars, fight tactical battles, return with experience and scars, and breed across generations.
The key strategic split is role coverage now versus inheritance later: field cats whose classes solve positioning, protection, and damage problems together, then preserve traits that widen the next generation's options. The old generic breeding page remains withdrawn; current breeding facts now live in the source-backed Mewgenics 1.1 breeding changes.
Mewgenics released February 10, 2026, for Windows PC. Steam describes more than ten classes, 75 abilities per class, more than 900 items, and a campaign intended to support very long play. Those are official scope statements, not a promise that every item or ability appears in an early run.
The August 23 Steam API snapshot showed 49,176 recommendations. That demand supports a permanent dossier, but it does not make an unsourced class ranking reliable.
