A focused survival-horror sequel with strong Arkham atmosphere and exploration, held back by ordinary combat, limited enemy variety, and platform-specific performance risk.

PC Gamer · TheSixthAxis · Hey Poor Player · Game InformerThe more focused structure gives the campaign momentum even when it sacrifices some of the first game's strangeness.
PC Gamer · TheSixthAxis · Hey Poor PlayerEnemy variety and repeated encounters do not match the quality of the setting, making action the weaker half of the package.
PC Gamer · Hey Poor Player · Game InformerThe PS5 reviews reported performance concerns that should not be generalized to every PC or console configuration.

GAME INTRODUCTION
The Sinking City 2 is available now on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is a single-player, third-person survival horror—not a direct continuation of the first game's open-world detective structure. Frogwares describes the sequel as semi-open-world, with heavier emphasis on combat, exploration, inventory pressure, and survival.
| What is stopping you? | First useful action |
|---|---|
| Ammo is gone and enemies keep returning | Read the combat and ammo recovery plan; optional enemies do not all need to be cleared |
| You cannot carry enough supplies | Check inventory upgrades and E.R.C. crates |
| You need upgrades but do not know what investigations provide | Use Talent Points and Dream Essence |
| A fatal blow kills Calvin even though you expected Night Shade to revive him | Check whether the one-use revive was already spent, then follow the Night Ore recharge steps |
| A setting change caused broken visuals or instability on PC | Return to the title screen, reload the save, and change settings there; Frogwares warns against changing them during gameplay |
| DLSS Performance or Ultra Performance is unstable | Try Balanced or higher quality before treating the symptom as a save or mission bug |
| The problem remains after updating | Match the platform and symptom on the current patch and known-issues page before reporting it |
| You want to try the game before buying | The Steam demo is back with 1.1.0 and its saves carry into the full game |
Arkham is divided into connected, water-damaged districts traveled on foot and by skiff. Shortcuts support returning for supplies and upgrades. Optional investigations can open safer routes and reward equipment or resources, while the main route remains available without completing every side case.
Combat is deliberately resource-lean. Frogwares' own support advice says to focus aim on weak points, lower difficulty when needed, avoid encounters that do not block the objective, and return better equipped. This is a more useful starting rule than treating every visible enemy as required combat.
| Platform | Current official build | Main boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Steam, GOG, Epic | Major Update 1.1.0 (October 6, 2026) | HDR output and HDR10+, FSR 4.1.1, DLSS Legacy mode, encounter retuning, upgrade carry-over into Ex Oblivione, Pure New Game, and the returning demo with save transfer |
| PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S | Major Update 1.1.0 (October 6, 2026) | Same update line as PC; no separate console-only patch number is claimed, because Frogwares has not published one since 1.1.0 |
The launch split — PC Hotfix 1.0.2 versus console Patch 1.0.1 — is historical. If a guide, comment, or video still tells you to match those two labels, it predates the current build.
Frogwares' official known-issues list still warns about changing settings during gameplay, the Low preset, and unstable DLSS Performance modes, and it still records issues a reload may not solve: the Night Shade mask twitching after cutscenes or QTEs, a lingering Juggernaut shadow, and Slither Pawns falling through the floor. Capture the platform, build, district or encounter, and a short clip instead of replacing them with a generic “game is broken” claim.
