What the game asks you to do
Each expedition begins on the galleon. The group accepts a contract, distributes equipment, chooses an area, then enters the jungle to complete objectives and recover treasure. Fort logbooks unlock additional starting points. Surviving is not enough if the contract is failed, while staying longer for loot exposes the group to more danger.
The madness system can change what one player sees or hears. A teammate may appear to be a creature, and spatial voice chat becomes part of checking what is real. That makes communication a game mechanic, not merely a convenience layered over a conventional shooter.
