WHAT CHANGED

Update 1.1.0 replaced the launch hotfix line on every platform; this page separates what 1.1.0 changed, which launch issues Frogwares still lists, and which older PC-console splits no longer apply.

The Sinking City 2 is on Major Update 1.1.0 across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S since October 6, 2026. The launch-era split — PC Hotfix 1.0.2 versus console Patch 1.0.1 — is history: 1.1.0 shipped as one update with HDR10+, FSR 4.1.1, a DLSS Legacy mode, retuned encounters, upgrade carry-over into Ex Oblivione, and the Steam demo back with save transfer.

A patch note proves that a named fix exists. It does not prove that your remaining symptom shares that cause. The table below sorts current problems by what official sources actually say.

What Major Update 1.1.0 changed

Display and upscaling. HDR output on PC, HDR10+ support, an in-game HDR brightness calibration screen, multi-monitor HDR, AMD FSR 4.1.1 in the video settings, and a Legacy mode for NVIDIA DLSS aimed at older GeForce cards. A visual glitch when switching DLSS off mid-session at 4K and 1440p is fixed.

Progression. Inventory slot upgrades and weapon upgrades now carry into Ex Oblivione, a duplicate upgrade converts into Dream Essence, the Holloway Manor revolver upgrade no longer grants twice when Ex Oblivione starts, and Pure New Game starts a completely fresh playthrough after you finish.

Encounters. Frogwares retuned “The Wake-Up Call”, “A Sight for Sore Eyes”, “Time and Tide”, and “Cold Comfort”: enemy counts and wave composition were reduced, explosive props read more clearly and cover more ground, Grenade Launcher and explosive gas-can damage went up, explosive lamps are now red, and a Slither's weak point becomes vulnerable sooner. Companion commentary during boss fights was also reduced.

Reliability. The 1.1.0 list includes crash fixes for changing graphics presets, starting a session with DLSS Frame Generation presets, the first Slither scene, “A Sight for Sore Eyes”, the pause menu after idling, and the Steam process lingering after quitting. Puzzle-blocking fixes cover prism duplication, answer changes during validation on the Brain Radio, obelisk, and fuse box puzzles, and a Prism station that could complete with a duplicated prism.

Cosmetics and demo. Two new Calvin outfits — The Warlock and The King in Yellow — with wardrobe preview images. The Steam demo returned alongside 1.1.0 with saves that carry into the full game; Frogwares also lists trials on PlayStation 5 and Xbox.

What is still listed as a known issue

Frogwares' known-issues article still records the following as open, and 1.1.0's notes do not claim them fixed:

  • visual glitches after changing presets or individual settings during gameplay;
  • artifacts on the Low preset, which is intended only for low-end cards;
  • instability, ghosting, or artifacts in DLSS Performance and Ultra Performance;
  • hardware-dependent level-of-detail issues;
  • the Night Shade mask twitching for a while after cutscenes and QTEs;
  • the Acheronian Juggernaut shadow remaining visible after its body dissolves;
  • Slither Pawns falling through the floor.

For settings-related glitches, make changes from the title screen; if the problem appears after a midgame change, restart or reload the save. For DLSS, the official recommendation is Balanced or better rather than Performance or Ultra Performance.

PC crash recovery and the support packet

Frogwares' order is unchanged: verify the installed files, launch once with -clearPSODriverCache, reinstall and reboot if needed, then perform a clean graphics-driver update. Stop when the crash stops reproducing — changing several variables at once makes the cause harder to identify.

If the crash persists, gather what Frogwares explicitly asks for before opening a ticket:

  1. dxdiag.txt;
  2. a screenshot or video of the crash error;
  3. an archived copy of %LOCALAPPDATA%\TSC2.

Writing down the platform and store, current build, mission or room, and the last repeatable action is our own addition, not a stated requirement; it makes a report reproducible. Preserve the original save folder before experimenting with files.

QUICK ANSWERS

Questions players ask next

What is the current The Sinking City 2 patch?

Major Update 1.1.0 arrived on October 6, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and it replaced the earlier split between PC hotfixes and console Patch 1.0.1.

Did 1.1.0 add HDR and FSR support?

Yes. 1.1.0 adds HDR output on PC, HDR10+ support, an in-game HDR brightness calibration screen, multi-monitor HDR, AMD FSR 4.1.1, and a Legacy mode for NVIDIA DLSS.

What did 1.1.0 change about difficulty?

Frogwares retuned encounters in “The Wake-Up Call”, “A Sight for Sore Eyes”, “Time and Tide”, and “Cold Comfort”, reducing enemy counts and wave composition, boosting Grenade Launcher and gas-can damage, and making explosive props read more clearly.

Do inventory and weapon upgrades carry into Ex Oblivione now?

Yes. After 1.1.0, inventory slot upgrades and weapon upgrades carry over, and a duplicate upgrade you already own converts into Dream Essence instead of being wasted.

Is The Sinking City 2 demo available again?

Yes. The Steam demo returned with 1.1.0 and its saves carry over to the full game. Frogwares also lists trials on PlayStation 5 and Xbox.

Is the Night Shade mask twitch fixed?

Not per the official record. Frogwares' known-issues page still lists the Night Shade mask twitching after cutscenes and QTEs, the lingering Acheronian Juggernaut shadow, and Slither Pawns falling through the floor as open items.

What should I try first after a PC crash?

Frogwares still starts with verifying the game files, then the -clearPSODriverCache launch parameter, then reinstalling and rebooting, then a clean graphics-driver update.
