Peace Walker in Master Collection Vol. 2 supports online play for up to six players. Cross-platform play is not supported. Konami also says online play is available only for Peace Walker, so the collection announcement does not restore MGS4's former online mode.

“Up to six” is the collection-level limit. It does not prove that every Peace Walker mission or mode accepts six participants. Mode-specific party sizes, invitations, matchmaking behavior, subscriptions, and network stability need the shipping build and platform support pages.
Choose the same platform ecosystem as the people you expect to play with. The lack of crossplay means a PS5 player should not expect to join a Steam, Xbox, or Nintendo lobby.
