| Player need | Best starting mode | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Learn through a story | The Legacy | Follows Chris Carter from collegiate wrestling toward UFC competition |
| Build a long career | UFC Career Mode | Uses decisions, training, titles, narrative events, and career management |
| Relive fighter stories | Hall of Legends | Centers on Max Holloway, Alex Pereira, and Zhang Weili experiences |
| Practice and manage a roster | The Gym | Tracks challenges, cosmetics, trainers, recruits, and practice tools |
| Play current real-world events | Fight Week | Offers event-linked challenges, predictions, and rewards |
| Develop a created online fighter | Online Career | Earns skill points through online matches |
| Quick offline or online fights | Fight Now / Quick Fight | Avoids the longer career structure |
| Competitive ladder | Ranked Championships | Uses online ranked formats |
The Gym's progression is cosmetic. EA explicitly says it does not affect gameplay balance or fighter stats, so collecting a fighter or training a Gym roster does not secretly create a stronger competitive rating.
Career Mode contains more than the opening story. EA says it includes expanded decision systems, social and narrative events, training camps, title paths, hype, fitness, and other long-term consequences. The Legacy can lead into Career, but it is its own narrative experience rather than the entire career mode.
For a practical first-session sequence, use the beginner controls and first-mode guide. For playing with another console, use crossplay modes and friend invites.
