AT A GLANCE

Xbox Play Anywhere covers the Microsoft version across supported Xbox and PC devices; mod support is announced more broadly, but its full platform matrix is not published.

The Witcher 3 Remastered supports Xbox Play Anywhere across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, and Xbox-supported handheld devices. Xbox Wire also confirms that Xbox Series players can create and play mods. Cross-platform mod support is announced, but the official sources do not yet provide a complete PS5, Steam, Switch 2, and Battle.net mod matrix.

What Play Anywhere gives an Xbox owner

Xbox Wire describes seamless play among Xbox Series X|S, PC, and an Xbox-supported handheld. That is an account and license benefit inside Microsoft's supported store system. It does not include the Steam app, a PlayStation copy, a Nintendo copy, or the new Battle.net release.

“Carry on your adventure” supports continuity inside that ecosystem. CD PROJEKT RED separately says existing saves remain compatible and its existing Cross Progression feature continues. Neither statement promises that every modded save, store entitlement, achievement list, or platform-exclusive setting transfers everywhere.

What cross-platform mod support proves

The official Remastered page lists Cross Platform Mod Support. Xbox Wire goes further for one platform: Xbox Series X|S users can create and play custom content, including quests, weapons, equipment, and balance changes. CD PROJEKT RED has not yet published the complete rollout matrix, moderation rules, file limits, creation tools by console, or compatibility status for every existing PC mod.

The Witcher 3 REDkit remains the official PC tool for creating and expanding mods. Its existence does not prove that an old REDkit project will run unchanged in Remastered or on every console. Platform-specific mod instructions should wait for CD PROJEKT RED's final documentation.

Last-generation and storefront limits

Remastered targets PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. PS4 and Xbox One continue with the existing game and receive Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine free; they do not receive a Remastered build under the current announcement. Original Switch ownership has a specific free path to the separate native Switch 2 download.

Steam confirms its current owners receive Remastered free. Battle.net is a new PC storefront release. Nothing in those announcements converts ownership from one PC store into another.
