AT A GLANCE

Kills and combat actions build Pressure; one Active Modifier spends it, Passive Modifiers reshape it, and Hostile Modifiers can drain or punish it.

Red Horizon's Under Pressure Gauge fills through kills, headshots, multikills, Skill kills, Status Effect kills, fire kills, and kills by other group members. Its default primary bonus is Status Effects, but Passive Modifiers can replace that with Signature Weapon Damage or Hazard Protection. The Gauge also fuels one selected Active Modifier.

The three Active Modifiers

ModifierSecondary attributePublished role
Fiery AuraArmor RegenAdds regen and damage resistance, protects sprinting, and burns nearby enemies when they first enter range
Vicarious CombustionHeadshot DamageSpreads Burn from headshots on burning targets; higher levels increase reach and can apply Burn directly
Signed, Shield, DeliveredSkill EfficiencyImproves Signature Weapons and shields; eligible kills refill the magazine and can extend the effect

Active Modifiers do not use a universal cooldown. Once the Gauge contains enough Pressure, you can activate the selected effect. The Gauge resets when that Active Modifier ends, so the practical decision is when to spend accumulated Pressure rather than waiting on a fixed timer.

Passive Modifiers change the Gauge

The season contains 20 Passive Modifiers. Ubisoft groups their purposes broadly: faster Pressure gain, longer retention, fire interactions, Skills, grenades, shields, and Signature Weapons. New Formula: Beta and New Formula: Gamma are specifically named as replacements for the default Status Effects bonus, swapping it to Signature Weapon Damage or Hazard Protection.

That supports several play styles, but it does not prove one universal loadout. A useful selection depends on which Active Modifier you chose, whether your gear already invests in Status Effects, and whether the activity rewards survival, burst damage, or crowd control.

Hostile Modifiers and counters

Three enemy effects interfere with Pressure:

  • Draining Presence removes magazine ammunition and reduces Pressure while the affected enemy is nearby.
  • Achilles' Heal restores the affected enemy and nearby allies when weak points or armor pieces break, while also reducing Pressure.
  • Thousand Cuts reduces Pressure when the affected enemy hits you and applies a stacking Damage Reduction debuff.

Ubisoft states that setting an affected enemy on fire is the only way to permanently remove or reverse these effects. That makes Burn access a mechanical counter, even for players who replace the Gauge's default Status Effects bonus.

Use the new gear reference for Fafnir and Ember Engine's Burn interactions. Return to the Red Horizon hub for access, bundles, Dark Zones, and drops.

QUICK ANSWERS

Questions players ask next

How do I build the Red Horizon Pressure Gauge?

Kills, headshots, multikills, Skill kills, Status Effect kills, fire kills, and group-member kills all add Pressure.

Does an Active Modifier have a normal cooldown?

No. Ubisoft says activation depends on having enough Pressure; the Gauge resets when the effect ends.

Can the Pressure Gauge support non-status builds?

Yes. Passive Modifiers can replace the default Status Effects bonus with Signature Weapon Damage or Hazard Protection.
