Registration is open at the official playtest site; an exact test date and guaranteed-access rule have not been announced.
State of Decay 3 closed beta playtests are planned before the end of 2026. Register at playtest.stateofdecay.com. Undead Labs has not announced the first beta day, test length, invitation count, or a public open beta.
What registration does
- Open the official playtest registration site.
- Submit the requested account and eligibility information.
- Watch the email attached to that registration for an invitation.
Registration puts a player into the selection pool. It does not unlock a download and does not guarantee selection for the first wave. The developer says testing will expand over time. People already registered for the April alpha remain on the list and do not need to treat the new announcement as proof that their invitation has arrived.

The tests are meant to give Undead Labs data on multiplayer load, combat, lighting, weather, character customization, and the new permadeath systems. That makes the test a development build, not evidence of final balance or performance.
