GAME INTRODUCTION
What to know before you play
RuneScape: Dragonwilds left Early Access and released in version 1.0 on September 15, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Jagex confirms crossplay across those four platforms and says the base price remains $29.99. The official launch confirms availability; it does not establish how well every console version performs.

What version 1.0 added
Jagex describes Dragonwilds as a one-to-four-player survival-crafting game set on Ashenfall. Version 1.0 adds the Scorned Wilderness region, the Regicide quest, and the Kuldra, the God-Eater end-game boss. These are product-scope facts, not a Player Guidebook verdict on balance, performance, or campaign quality.
What 1.0.1 changed, and what is still open
1.0.1 shipped October 14, 2026 and its headline is save recovery, not new content. Jagex fixed a range of disappearing world saves and added a catch-up mechanic for corrupted character saves that drops you back in with aggregated stats and Tier 4 gear. The update also added a Jump Attack (the “Death From Above!” skill-tree perk, which plunges you into a slam when you attack from above the double-jump arc), an Ammo Recovery ranged perk and its Greater version, and distinct ranged special attacks for the Shortbow, Longbow, and Crossbow.
The developer's October 15 known-issue list is the best guide to what can still go wrong:
| Still open after 1.0.1 | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| “Corrupted Save” warning cannot always be skipped with a controller | Try accepting repeatedly or reconnecting the controller; a proper fix is pending |
| Ranged special attacks can crash dedicated servers against some targets | Avoid spamming the new ranged specials on dedicated servers until the hotfix lands |
| Air Magic Staff's fourth combo hit deals no damage | Melee, ranged, and the other elements work; the Air staff combo does not |
| Runecrafting Essence counter resets to 1 while a degrading amulet or ring ticks | Do not trust the displayed Essence count with degrading jewellery equipped |
| Splitting chest stacks with a controller can freeze the UI | Back out, sort the chest, or use a mouse where possible |
| Corrupted world saves can still disappear for some players | Keep the corrupted-save catch-up in mind before deleting anything |
| Other named items | Scorned Wilderness Raid skips, a PS5 sign-out menu error, an Xbox Series X hosted-world join limit, inventory persistence on world switch, the Mucksplosion radius, and a Jagex Launcher download failure |
Patch notes prove a named fix shipped. They do not prove that every save-loss report is resolved — Jagex says the remaining instances are very small but still under investigation.
PC players can now use Steam, the Epic Games Store, or the Jagex Launcher. New players can buy the base game or use an eligible subscription catalog. The practical differences are compared on the price, Game Pass, and PlayStation Plus page.
Platform boundaries that matter
- PC: Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Jagex Launcher are listed in the official 1.0 announcement. The dated player-review snapshot below covers Steam only.
- PlayStation: the announced console version is PS5, not PS4.
- Xbox: the announced console version is Xbox Series X|S, not Xbox One.
- Nintendo: the announced version is for Nintendo Switch 2.
- Crossplay: the host chooses whether a world is crossplay-enabled. Crossplay worlds appear in the world browser, and invite codes can be entered there. Dedicated servers also have a crossplay option. None of this proves cross-save support.
Current PC player signal
Steam showed an 82% positive English-language recommendation rate when checked September 14, 2026. That snapshot predates the 1.0 launch and reflects the PC Early Access population. It is not a Player Guidebook score and cannot describe the current PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Nintendo Switch 2 versions.

There is no console performance verdict, measured frame-rate comparison, cross-save confirmation, or Player Guidebook hands-on score on this page. Those claims require retail-build evidence. The current topic stays focused on the buying facts that official sources answer.
