Bedrock supports cross-device play across supported PC, console, and mobile systems; Java crossplay stays on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and editions do not mix natively.

Minecraft Bedrock supports crossplay across current Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS versions. Java crossplay is limited to Java players on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Java and Bedrock cannot join each other through official native multiplayer.
| Device | Edition | Base account | Microsoft account role |

| macOS / Linux | Java | Microsoft | Required |
| Xbox | Bedrock | Microsoft | Required |
| PlayStation 4 / 5 | Bedrock | PSN | Enables crossplay, Realms, and social features when linked |
| Nintendo Switch | Bedrock | Nintendo | Enables crossplay, Realms, and social features when linked |
| Android | Bedrock | Enables crossplay and connected services when linked | |
| iPhone / iPad | Bedrock | Apple | Enables crossplay and connected services when linked |
Before troubleshooting invites, check three things: every player is using the same edition, everyone is on the current stable version, and required Microsoft/platform accounts are signed in. Console online multiplayer can also require that platform's separate online subscription.
Do not solve a Java-versus-Bedrock mismatch by repeatedly sending invites. The editions use different native networks. Windows players who own the combined package can close Java and launch Bedrock when joining console or mobile friends.
For a private always-online world, the Realm must match the edition: Java players join Java Realms; Bedrock players join Bedrock Realms. Compare costs and capacity on the Minecraft Realms page.

QUICK ANSWERS
Questions players ask next
Can Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, PC, and mobile play Minecraft together?
Yes when everyone uses a current Bedrock Edition and the required accounts and online services.
Can Java and Bedrock play together?
No through official native multiplayer. Java and Bedrock are separate multiplayer networks.
Does PlayStation need a Microsoft account?
A PSN account owns and launches the PlayStation version; linking a Microsoft account enables cross-platform play, Realms, and related social features.
