LEGO Batman Local Co-op, Online Play, and Subscriptions

Two people can play together on one system; online co-op and console multiplayer subscriptions are not required.

LEGO Batman supports two-player local co-op on the same system. It does not support online co-op. That is the direct boundary in WB Games' official FAQ, so two households cannot start an internet session together through the game.

What local co-op means here

Both players share one console or PC. The roster includes seven core characters with distinct skills, combos, and gadgets, giving a pair different tools for combat and exploration. WB Games does not present this as an online or cross-platform feature.

The lack of online co-op also explains why a console multiplayer subscription is unnecessary. A player may still need the normal platform account and storefront access to install digital content, but PlayStation Plus, Game Pass Core, and Nintendo Switch Online are not gameplay requirements listed by WB Games.

Offline and optional accounts

After the game and any required files are installed, an internet connection is not required for ordinary play. Updates and downloadable content still require a connection when downloaded.

A WB Games Account is optional. Linking one unlocks the Golden Age Batsuit. A separate HBO Max promotion can unlock Dark Knights of Steel and Black Lantern suits when an active HBO Max account and WB Games Account are linked under the published terms. Those rewards do not turn the account into a requirement for the base campaign.
