It is not multiplayer-only: single-player retells The Night He Came Home through Michael, while online play uses a one-versus-four structure.
Halloween: The Game includes both a standalone single-player story and online 1v4 multiplayer. It is not an online-only game.
In single-player, the story revisits “The Night He Came Home” from Michael Myers' perspective. Chapters include secondary challenges and collectibles that can unlock lore, executions, scenarios, and multiplayer cosmetics.
Online, one player controls Michael Myers while up to four players become Heroes of Haddonfield. Heroes use household items and weapons, warn residents, contact police, and can equip NPCs to create escape openings. Michael uses stealth, darkness, and abilities such as Shape Jump to stalk the neighborhood.
Steam lists online PvP and online co-op because the Hero team cooperates against the player-controlled Michael. The checked sources do not establish a crossplay policy, so cross-platform matchmaking should not be promised until IllFonic documents it directly.
